Hello, my name is Glennon, and I am from the beautiful Tiwi Islands, just north of Darwin. My journey to becoming a Travel Director with AAT Kings is deeply rooted in my family’s history and my personal mission to connect with my ancestors.
My great-grandfather, Dinny, was part of the Stolen Generation—a group of Aboriginal children forcibly removed from their families by the government. He was taken from the desert region and brought to the Tiwi Islands. Growing up, I always felt a pull towards the desert, wanting to understand and honour my ancestors’ land and stories. This journey led me to AAT Kings, a company that has become like a second family to me since I joined in 2022.
Working with AAT Kings has been nothing short of wonderful. There’s a deep sense of camaraderie and care among us, which makes every day an adventure. As a Travel Director, I have the privilege of guiding visitors through some of Australia’s most breathtaking landscapes, including Uluru , Kata Tjuta, and my personal favourite, Kings Canyon.
Imagine waking up to the serene beauty of the desert, with birds singing in the morning light – colours that are unmatched anywhere else in the world. It’s a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city, a peaceful escape with nature in full display.
One of my most memorable experiences as a Travel Director with AAT Kings happened at Kings Canyon. We had just climbed the 500 steps to the top when one of our guests needed to return to the base. I asked my fellow guide to continue with the group while I accompanied the guest down. I spent the rest of the tour helping her and her husband, which turned into a wonderful opportunity to connect on a personal level, sharing stories and taking photos along the way. Despite the challenges, these moments of genuine human connection are what make this job so rewarding.
Every day on tour is different, with new groups and dynamics, creating countless unforgettable memories. Some days are tough, but we always pull through together, embodying the spirit of family and ensuring everyone feels safe and cared for.
AAT Kings has given me the chance to not only explore but also to share the magic of Australia with visitors from around the world. Whether it’s the majestic Kings Canyon or the sacred grounds of Uluru, each tour is a journey of discovery, connection, and awe.
Come join us and let AAT Kings show you the heart of Australia through the eyes of those who know it best. With every step, you’ll find a story waiting to be told, a landscape waiting to be admired, and memories waiting to be made.
